MBA Programme Delivery

The Bloomsbury MBA is a full-time Master’s degree-level programme. Based on daytime attendance of three intensive days per week, the duration of this programme is 12 months, although students may complete it over 15 months.

There are two intakes a year, in Febraury and September.

The programme is delivered in superior classroom facilities, using state-of-the-art teaching resources. To assist their studies, all students receive a free wireless-enabled laptop.

The learning strategy is designed to develop managerial knowledge and concepts within a learning environment which utilises students' work experience and cultural backgrounds.

Active learning is also encouraged through workshops which promote participation and a sharing of experiences. Visiting speakers and workplace visits also feature strongly.

The MBA involves the study of 7 modules and you will also produce a research-based dissertation. The modules are:- Management and Leadership; Managing Finance; Managing Business Performance and IT; Managing People; Managing Change; Strategic Management and Marketing; Research Methods and Dissertation. Each module is worth 20 credits except for the Dissertation which is worth 40 credits.

Assessment is by essays, case studies, reports and presentations as well as the practically based dissertation.

To obtain an MBA you are required to achieve 180 credits.

MBA students will have membership of Senate House Library, University of London. This entitles students to full access of Senate House online and book loan facilities.

It has the following distinctive features:

  • Study of the context of business activity, the primary functions to be found in any business organization and the keys to successful management within such a context.

  • An examination of the global competitive environment including e-commerce, diverse organisational structures and strategic alliances.

  • Developing understanding of strategic management of organisations with an emphasis on the management of change.

  • Research into a business issue or problem through undertaking an in-depth piece of management research and producing a dissertation.

  • Team-building weekend at commencement of the course to enhance group working and co-operation.

  • An international theme running throughout the programme - taking advantage of learning with and from other students from around the world.

We employ a mixture of assessment methods. Assignments include case studies, essays and personal development planning.
