ABE Diploma in Management

The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a professional membership body and an examination board. ABE is recognised around the world – from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in the UK to Ministries of Education and Employers in other countries.

Bloomsbury Business School offer ABE business and management qualifications at Diploma level (NQF level 5) in the following programmes:

  • Business Management
  • Business Information Systems
  • Financial Management (from February 2011)
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing

Courses commence 1st September 2010, and are of 12 months duration.

 

Business Management

Business Management students acquire the key skills required for a career in the business world, including accounting, marketing, planning and strategic management. Typical jobs for Diploma holders include marketing executive and management training roles; students completing the Advanced Diploma can expect to progress to roles in marketing management and general management. Students can also progress to the final stages of Bachelors degrees, or even onto MBA degrees with relevant work experience.

This programme consists of the following modules:

  • Quantitative Methods for Business and Management
  • Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication

Business Information Systems

Business Information Systems students acquire skills in two key areas of modern business. The course covers topics as diverse as systems analysis, quantitative methods and business law, and gives scope for career progression in both the management and IT sectors. Typical jobs for Diploma holders include Assistant IT Manager and Assistant Data Manager; students completing the Advanced Diploma can expect to progress to roles including Database Manager and Webmaster. Students can also progress to the final stages of Bachelors degrees.

Financial Management

This programme combines business and management skill sets with financial best practice, and covers essential and diverse areas including law, management accountancy and taxation. Students completing the Diploma can expect to progress to roles in accountancy and financial consultancy.

Human Resource Management

This programme introduces the disciplines that underlie the effective management of the human resource, and explores the theory, practice and strategy of human resources management. Typical jobs for Diploma holders include Assistant Personnel Manager and Assistant HR Manager;  students completing the Advanced Diploma can expect to progress to roles including Training Manager and HR Manager.

This programme offers students the opportunity to acquire and develop the essential skill sets such as communication, segmentation and planning, for a career in marketing management.

Diploma Entry Requirements

Applicants must have attained one of the following qualifications:

  • ABE Certificate
  • Two GCE A levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics
  • Such overseas qualifications which following University of London guidelines may be accepted by the Registrar as being equivalent to the above
  • At least 2 years in appropriate employment – a signed reference letter from the employer(s) must accompany the application

Applicants must also have attained English IELTS 5.0, or equivalent.
